HORIZON EDUCATIONAL TRUST

Horizon Educational Trust is founded by South African Turkish Community  in 1998 in Johannesburg. It is an  independent , non-profit making (015-549 NPO) and charitable organization. At the moment, it is operating four schools in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town. In Cape Town, we have Star International Primary and High School (www.starinternational.co.za) with 250 learners from 1999. In Johannesburg, we are running Horizon International High School (www.horizonhigh.co.za) with 150 learners from 2000. In Durban, Star Boys and Girls College (www.starcollege.co.za) is operational from 2002 with 550 learners. Addition to these four schools, we have started Tuition Centers from January 2010. Our Polokwane branch, Star Phys – Math Tuition Center, has 100 learners capacity. We are busy constructing our Pretoria/Tshwane school which will be functional in 2012.95% of our learners are South African children.

In their short history, these schools have achieved some remarkable success such as continuous 100% Matric Pass Rate and outstanding achievements in National and International Olympiads, Science Expos and various competitions. For example, these schools have placed 25 students in top 200 in the National Mathematics Olympiad in 2009. We emphasize in Science, Maths and Computer Education from an international perspective. We use the education system of the country that we operate and we add on to the existing system. Our schools, if the school premises is suitable, have boarding facilities, too.
